A friends computer is set up to require a password in order to log on;
however, she has no idea what the password is. What can she do to log into
her computer?

BIOS or Windows password?.. it makes a difference..

If Windows password, boot the computer into safe mode.. tapping F8 BEFORE
the splash screen will invoke the menu.. when in safe mode, go to Control
Panel - User Accounts and remove the password for the account..

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s). By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
