password

I went to publish a change to my webpage and it initially asked for the FTP and path directory. I have not done this for a year or 2 and now have the FTP but when I pushed PUBLISH again it asked for a password. I cant remember ever putting on a password. Can I check or somehow find out what thepassword is now?
