Password protect a folder

I'm a newbie and don't quite understand folder protection. What's the
best/easiest/fastest way to password protect a file folder?

Thanks, I'll try the permissions game. I want to be sure noone on the
outside can view my files.....if you know what I mean.

I do (wink wink...) - to use NTFS Permissions, your HDD must be
formatted to, surprise, surprise, NTFS, and Simple File Sharing must be
turned off.
