Password Prompt

C

CHallisy

Several people in our office, including myself, receive a POP3 password
prompt repeatedly, yet intermittently.

A pop-up displays asking for your user name and password for the POP3
server. Even if you check the "add to password list" box Outlook seemingly
forgets it immediately.

There are days when it will happen every minute for an hour, but there are
times when you may not see it for days on end.

I've seen this question posed here and on numerous boards but no one seems
to have found a solution.

BTW, things that don't work:

1. Deleting and recreating the account
2. Changing the frequency at which Outlook downloads messages
3. Help > Detect and Repair
4. Telling the pop up box to remember the password
5. Changing the POP3 password

Any ideas?

Solutions depend on your version of Outlook and Windows.

This continues to be a problem for multiple clients of mine.

Everything is fine for a few months, but one day, the password box
will begin prompting them for user/pass. This typically lasts an hour
or two, then goes away. We have tried all of the suggestions from
above but to no avail. Why is this happening randomly? Is there is
reason or solution for this? It's quite annoying when trying to get
things done.

Thanks.
