Are you running Outlook 2000 or 2002 on Vista by any chance?

So the version of Outlook that you use is to remain a secret?

NOTE: Since you entered the signature delimiter line ("-- ") near the
top of your post, and since everything after the signature should NOT be
included when quoting the original post, everything you placed after
your signature was omitted from my reply. Or don't bother using a
signature since Microsoft has never honored many Usenet standards.

Read the following Microsoft KB articles regarding your problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684/en-us
(Do NOT use method 3 as Vista no longer uses Pstore but DPAPI instead.)

2002, 2003, xp vista no matter, this thing just WONT REMEMBER PASSWORD, we

Outlook 2002 will never work. Outlook 2003 should work and the first thing
to try is to create a new mail profile.

NickR2

That's the first thing I did. Created a new profile.
I even reloaded Outlook, reloaded thr entire XP!
Tried the Registry fix.
Did everything in the MS thread with the multiple possibilities.
AS DID everyone In here, apparently.

but, there is obviously some snake still hiding in M/r. gates' garden that
keeps biting us, all!

Something we are missing.

Like House always says "DIFFERENTIAL!"

We need to pull the brains of all the people haing this trouble together.
I have seen at least 20 threads, non have come to resolution.
All suggesting the same basic moves, but to no avail.

so, let's get the proverbial box of donuts and pull a team together and
tackle this beast? no?

Sorry, but not biting us all. Plenty of people use Outlook 2003 on Vista
systems and have no problems. Did you try starting Outlook in safe mode?
In fact, outline all the things you've tried so that I don't keep asking you
to try things you've already tried.

Started in Safe mode
changed my windows login password to the same password in case it was seeing
it somewhere.

I noticed that in the mail account setup, where you can mark the box to
remember password under login information, if I complete the setup, and go
back in the password is GONE.

Also, strangely, if I am not online when I do this, it stays!!

The password only dissappears if I am connected to the internet.
What is it doing while connected, that it doesnt do when it's not during the
account set up?? (I didnt select "Test My connection").

Driving me crazy, as I bet you can understand.

I dont want to sound unappreciative, just very frustrated.

apprecate any additional suggestinds you might have.

After months of pulling out my hair, I went out and Purchased the upgrade
from Outlook 2003 to 2007, but it STILL WONT SAVE THE PASSWORD.

But, now I qualified for Microsoft support, and guess what, the first guy
took me through the same circus we have been going through here, but the next
one was PURE GENIUS!

Here was the Resolution/Recommendations: -
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders\AppData". AppData is of type REG_EXPAND_SZ and should contain
the value: "%userprofile%\Application Data" - when password prompt in outlook

I DONT HAVE TO ENTER MY PASSWORD ANYMORE :)
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY !!!!!

Hope this helps someone else.

What did that key contain? The value you describe that it should contain is
its default value. If it didn't contain "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data",
then something changed it.

I'm using Outlook 2002 SP3 on vista home 64 bit. I have the same problem as
above. Is there a reg edit to fix this, or am I doomed to re-enter passwords
when sending emails?
Would appreciate the help
