Password not recognised

Thomas

I Have an XP Pro laptop, to which I have administrive
rights, which is normally part of a domain. In order to
share some files with my home PC (running W2k Pro) I
changed to a Workgroup named Home and having been
requested for my logon and password was requested to
restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Problem is my logon and password will not now be accepted
and I cannot access the laptop.

Any Ideas Please

Hi Thomas,

after you remove your computer from domain, you can no longer use domain
credentials. You will have to use _local_ username and password. If you
setup your Windows XP in the first place try to remember what you set for
administrator password (did you leave it blank?). If someone setup the
notebook for you, ask this person for the password.

You should always be able to share files between computer no matter what
domain or workgroup they are part of...

Mike's correct - Domain passwords are entirely unrelated to "workgroup"
(local) passwords. If your net-admin type folks can't help you, here's
a tool to crack local (workgroup) type passwords:

http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

Direct download, a .ZIP, to .ISO which you should burn to CD and *MUST*
boot from. http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/cd040116.zip

It's a linux kernel, that has a menu-driven system to reset passwords.
