Password masking query

windows creates extra dots to help mask the password for the ISP, but often I
get an error (password invalid on the domain) and I need to wipe the password
dots and write it in again. Is there anything I can do to stop this
happening? If it is a cache issue, where do I go to fix it?

You have a relic registry entry, probably from a win2k upgrade. Go to start/run, and type 'control userpasswords2' , Uncheck (or
check, whichever applies) the password option, apply, then change back, and apply again. This should toggle the XP registry setting
for saving passwords.

This is a new computer with a new installation of XP Professional. It seems
most XP machines do this. Is there someone who can enlighten me?
