partitions on windows xp

when I make a partition on drive C using the windows XP disk it deletes it
straight away (or does not create it ) so I can not install windows XP. Does
anyone know how to solve this problem ?

How are you starting this install? If you are trying to format the
drive to install XP, you must boot the PC with the install CD first.
