partitioning hard drive problem

T

titus12

I am trying to re-install Win XP on a computer that has lost its partition
space. When I get to the part to create a partition in the unpartitioned
space by pressing "C", a partition space will not create into a 'C'
partition. It continues to read Unpartitioned space. I have the XP Home
installing disk. How can I get the drive to partition? Windows XP was on
the drive before I messed up the bios.

sounds like the
ntfs crashed.

there are utilities
that restore/repair
the ntfs.

unfortunately, none
are provided via the
windows cd.

you may want to search
for a freeware or perhaps
buy a reliable utility and
multipurpose utility like
acronis disk director.

if i recall, their trialware
can scan the disk and
reveal the data still on
the crashed ntfs.

if the above plays out,
then it means your ntfs
is recoverable, but only
if you buy the program.
