i still don't fully understand how to partition from a clean install. the
main thing is that i should put windows on its own partition. if i do a
clean install, windows puts everything on c: and creates all the empty
documents folders for each user etc etc.

do i leave the 'my documents' folders etc on the c drive or do i immediately
move them to another partition and just leave the folder named 'windows' on
c:?

in basic terms, should i install windows and then leave everything that it
installs as it is, then going on to put programs etc onto another partition?

this would mean that users would still be putting their docs and pictures on
c: and not on another partition. is this the correct way to go about it?

thanks
