I had to completely re do my computer (crash) I inadvertly removed the
partition on my external drive which I use for storage. Is there a way to
reestablish the partition without destroying the data?

If you removed the partition you have already destroyed the data. Do not
attempt to use the drive until you can make an attempt to recover the data.
Talk to your local computer shop about their services for doing that. There
are also programs which might work but the really effective ones like
OnTrack can be pricey.

I have done this successfully with Acronis RecoveryExpert.

TestDisk should be able to recover the partition.

No, removing a partition does not destroy the data.
It only makes it inaccessible to Windows. Specialised
tools can restore deleted partitions.

No, the OP hasn't destroyed the data provided he has made no attempt to do
anything else. Removing the partition merely removes the partition
information from the partition table. The data itself is still present on
the disc. There are specialist programs that can recover the data from
disc. I have never had to do this myself, but googling with a suitable
search phrase should turn up many options. Try something along the lines of
'data recovery software' for starters.
