Parallel printing affected by security updates?

A few days ago I installed the following updates on my HP D530 running
Windows XP Home SP2: KB956803, KB956391, KB957095, KB956390-IE7, KB954211,
KB956841, KB958644. Today I found that the HP 932C parallel printer would
not work, as it had before the update. I verified that the printer worked
using my old 98 machine, and verified that the port worked using another
device. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver had no effect. I found
that LPT1 was set to Never Use Interrupts. I thought this an odd setting for
background printing; I suppose it could use DMA, but that seems like
overkill. At any rate, I set it to Use Any Interrupt and printing started
working again. Has anyone else seen effects on LPT1 from any of the recent
updates?
