Parallel port TWAIN drivers and XP

I can not find my software for a scanner I bought several
years ago so I went on line to download the drivers for
this scanner. The drivers are for previous versions of
Windows. It seems that XP does not support parallel port
TWAIN drivers so there is no drivers available for my
scanner to be used with XP. This is getting very
expensive to keep purchasing more advanced versions of
Windows when you then have to get rid of the hardware you
own too. Doesn't Microsoft have some sort of resolution
for this problem? Do I have to go back to using '98SE in
order to be able to use my hardware? I might have bought
the scanner several years ago but it's been used very
little. Now that I'll be needing it I find that because I
just spend lots of money on XP in can longer use this
piece of equipment. Is there some way around this? I also
have a digital that is parallel port TWAIN so I guess
there is no point in installing the software for it
either. My camera is an AGFA and the software that came
with it is the easiest photo software I have every come
across. It's my favorite photo software. The scanner I
have is a Vivitar compact VSF-200 scanner. Does anyone
have any solution for this?

Thanks for the response. I just wrote to Vivitar again
and asked if they have drivers for Windows 2000 but I
don't think they do because when I went to their website
it only had the drivers the scanner for Windows 95/98 and
it clearly pointed that out. I did ask if there was
anyway to convert the scanner to be able to use it with
USB. I don't know about things like that and the only way
to find out is to ask. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I got mine to work on XP.. I use the PhotoImpression Software and select a very low resolution (like 70 or 71), and it works just fine.. just dont expect it to work on Paint or XP to Auto Detect it..
