Parallel Port

My elderly PCB/Schematic software (which does all I require) requires dongles to operate. For at least XP and onwards the software will not run as it is prevented from access to the parallel port to check for the presence of the dongles. Is there any way to get round this?

My wife has an electronic sewing machine that has a parallel port interface on a hardware adapter to program it and have not been able to find any adapters that will convert a parallel port properly, despite the claim that they do.
I keep a couple of old computers alive just to run it.

You could get into programming and code the drivers yourself, but that would take months

LPT's should still work with XP?

As long as the correct drivers are installed
