Paint error

I keep receiving an error notice that says- "Microsoft
needs to close....please report this problem to Microsoft"
when I try to open my Paint program. I have sent the
required report several times to Microsoft, but still my
Paint does not open. Can anyone tell me what I might be
doing (or not doing) that Paint does not work? Please
forgive me if I do not have the correct group or am asking
a stupid question...I am NOT very computer literate, but
trying to learn more. Thank you very much for any
information!!

First, sending info to Microsoft will not make your current software work,
no matter how many times you do it; all you are doing is reporting a bug.
The problem you're having is due to incompatible or missing components (exe,
dll, sys, ...). The first thing you should do is update to the latest
service pack (SP1) and hotfixes using Windows Update. Also look for
3rd-party driver updates (video, audio, ...). If you still have the problem
after updating everything to the latest software, you can try a repair
(probably won't help), an OS reinstall (painful), or debug the problem
(difficult). Check the event viewer for more on the problem.
