Paging file problem

I had a problem starting into 2000. I got a user interface invalid error which I determined had to deal with Symantec PC anywhere. So I tried to log into the system in safe mode (so that I can go to remove it) and I get message saying that paging file is too small and tells me to go to My Computer to change it. The system hangs for about 30 seconds and then all of sudden I am back into the log in screen again. So my problem is I can't even get in to 2000 to change the settings on the paging file. Anybody have any ideas?

============================

There are various ways of fixing this problem. Here is the simplest of them.
Why it works I do not know but a number of posters have reported that it's
fixed their problem. It certainly won't do any damage.

1. Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.,com.
2. Type this command: fdisk /mbr
3. Remove the boot disk and boot normally.
4. Post again if this method does not fix the problem.
