Pages X of Y issue

I've got a document with multiple sections, with the first section being
front matter that I don't want included in the "total" number of pages
showing as "Y." The rest of the document after the front matter is paginated
consecutively through all the sections, but my last page says "Page 26 of 29"
due to the front matter. How do I get it to count "Y" as exclusive of the
front matter when I have multiple sections in the document?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NumberingFrontMatter.htm and
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Numbering/PageNumbering.htm. For even more,
see http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Page_Numbering.htm.

You'll need to restart your numbering after the first (front matter)
section. If this doesn't do it, you may need to place a bookmark on the last
page of that section and use a calculation field. The process for doing this
is shown in the second two links.

You'll need to use a calculated field for the number of pages: { = {
NUMPAGES } - 3 }
