Page x of y does not print when Word converted to PDF

Hello:
I have Page x of y in the footer of my Word document. When I convert the
document to PDF, the Page x of y is not displayed on any of the pages in the
PDF document. Any idea why?

I am using Acrobat 7.0 Standard. I must say that the Page x of y prints for
some of my documents. I think I used the same template for the ones that
display the Page x of y and a different template for the ones that aren't
displaying the Page x of y. So I suspect t is probably the formatting that is
different in the document but I can't figure out what it is. I tried deleting
the Page x of y and redoing it but that doesn't work
