Page x of y - controlling y

How do I limit the number of pages counted in the "y"
portion of page x of y. I have a document with 8 sections
and I want to have the page x of y count only the pages
in sections 3 through 7. How can I do that?

Hi Sue

You can't do this with the built-in functionality in Word. You can, however,
fudge it.

Create a bookmark (Insert > Bookmark) at the end of section 7. In the
header, use Insert > Reference > Cross Reference. In the Reference Type box,
choose "Bookmark". In the Insert Reference To box, choose "Page Number". In
the "For which bookmark" box, choose your bookmark.

Just be careful that you don't accidentally delete the bookmark.
