page numbering

I made a document which have 15 sections & each section I have header
containing page x of y. When I tried to give page number in footer to entire
document starting 1 to end, it is not working it is resetting at each section
& starts from 1. When I formated the page number as continuous, It has also
formatted the headers page x of y. where x page no. is also formated as
continuous.

Is there any mathod which we can give entire page numbering without
affecting headers page no.
