Page number of a new section is wrong

The footer of section 2 ends with page # 107. The footer of section 3 starts
with the wrong page number, i.e. 109. HELP!
 
Sounds like your section break is set to 'Odd page' which forces your new
section to start on an odd-numbered page, creating a blank page to get there
if necessary. Word shows this blank page only if you go into File -> Print
Preview.
