How do I create page numbers in multiple sections?

Frustrated Footers

I have a document with different sections set up but am trying to get the
page numbers in the footer to start from 1 in each section and can't get it
to work. It would be Section 1 - Page 1 then Page 2, then Section 2 - Page
1, Page 2, Page 3, then Section 3 - Page 1, Page 2, etc... Help!!

make sure in the footer "link to previous" is off in each new section.

hope this helps.

It is not necessary to unlink the sections unless a change in the footer
text is required.

Use the Page Number Format dialog to set the numbering to "Start at 1" in
each section. If you had done this in Section 2 before creating Section 3,
then Section 3 would have inherited this setting; for existing sections,
you'll have to skip from one section to another to set it in each one.

In Word 2003 and earlier, you can access this dialog with the Format Page
Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar. In Word 2007, on the
contextual Header & Footer Tools | Design tab, click Page Number, then
Format Page Numbers...
