Page does not refresh even though setting is for "every visit to the page"

I've updated my computer with ALL the latest patches, yet
I still have problems with refreshes.

For some weird reason, MS has set the default
in "Internet Options" "Temporary Internet Files --
Settings" to "check for newer versions of stored pages"
to the third setting, "automatic".

This created all kinds of issues for websites visited
frequently that changed contents on a monthly basis, as
it turned out that I'd often be visiting these pages -
yet saw no changes unless I manually refreshed.

I was told to change the settings to refresh "every visit
to the page". Should have worked, but didn't: I find I
STILL have to press the "refresh" button on suspect pages
in order to see the newly published version. Changing
the setting to "every time I start explorer" didn't help
either. (Rebooted, etc, to make sure the changes took
place) What gives?

I use Windows XP, IE version: 6.0.2800.xpsp2.030422-1633.

Update versions: SP1; Q822925; Q330994; Q828750; Q824145.

Jacques,
You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK
