I have an older computer using Win Me IE 6 dial-up cxn.
I recently bought a new computer having Win XP, a new, fast machine and I'm
using Comcast cable with it.
There is a website we use often that I can reach easily on the old setup,
but with the new I just can't get to the site. Both use IE 6. SP 2
So far, in surfing the net with the new computer and visiting sites I used
on the old computer I seem to have no trouble with any but this one
particular site that we need to visit.

http://blocknet.hrblock.com

After a half-minute or so I get the subject error message:
Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer
I have tried going to Tools / Internet Options / Security and entered it as
a "Trusted Site" with a Low security level, but that doesn't change the
result.
In the suggested steps found in the Error Message it says check what
strength security is installed. Help / About IE says Cipher Strength
128-bit.

I'm hoping that one of you who understands these things can go to the site
and see if you see anything that would make it accessible to my old setup,
but not the new.

TIA, Fred

Hi,

Sorry, I just checked and the older computer uses IE 6, but SP 1, not SP 2.

Not having any response here, I posted my problem in
microsoft.publicwindowsxp.basics and got a quick answer that solved the
problem.

Thanks anyway, ..... Fred
