For the last 5 out of 7 days, I`ve had a "over-clocking failed" message
appear on start up shortly after the comp. details are listed and immediately
after the "press F10 to configure" message. Can anyone suggest a way to stop
this continually happening? I have to reset date, time etc each time.
Thanks in anticipation

Don't overclock. If you still have problems after reducing
the CPU clock rate to normal, repost in a hardware group -
this is where the overclocking experts dwell. Your question
has nothing whatsoever to do with Windows.

Thanks Pegasus, but how do I reduce the CPU clock rate to normal? Anthony

Probably in the BIOS setup. The experts in the hardware group
can tell you much better than I can.

Hello,

Did you or someone else mess with the clock settings of your computer?

It looks to be more like the CMOS battery failing when you say that you have
to reset date and time. You will need to replace the battery (yes, you will

I have had the BIOS battery replaced after the comp. wouldn`t start, but the
over-clocking message was appearing prior to this.
Thanks

This isn't an XP OS issue. Best to post to a hardware newsgroup.
