Outlook2003 Rules: Turning off the automatic selection of 'on this machine only'

Is there a way to make Outlook 2003 NOT automatically select the "on
this machine only" option when creating a new rule? It seems to only
function as "don't use this rule". I know I can uncheck it but how do
I make Outlook not check it in the first place?

I use Outlook on a stand alone workstation for POP mail.

Thx.

Hi,

I have a similar issue with the rule for seting up email accounts and the
"on this machine only" rule.

I have 5 accounts to setup, one, it's a pain in the $## to manually setup
all of theses accounts from one pc to another, as where I work, there are
multiple work stations that I can sit, I only target one PST file for my
emails.

In my rules, I always have to go redo the ones from the Email Accounts as
they are setup to "only on other machines". Now, this is a major pain in the
neck and I was wondering if there is a way to remove the feature somewhere of
the "on this machine only" for the Main email account rule, not having to
have it checked.

thanks

If the machine is a standalone PC and you're using a POP account, ALL rules
are "on this machine only" by their very nature, since there is no other
machine on which they can run.

The rules should follow the pst file as it contains the emails.

As for all my other rules, I am able to have them follow on every single PC
with the pst as it's not forcing me to have the checkmark in the "on this
machine" except for the Main Account Rule.

I was just wondering if there was a way to disable the FORCED checkmark
somehow.

They do, but if you move a PST and its rules between machines, they won't
run on both machines, only the one on which they were created. In addition
to the rule conditions and actions, a rule also contains a record of the
machine on which it was created.
