A microsoft technician helped me install xp but he removed office 2000.
I have access to all office programs except my outlook, it say to put in ffice 2000
cd which I dont have, it was pre installed on my computer. My business is run form
outlook, it contains all my contacts. Can anyone help me reinstall outlook with purchasing office 2000 cd.
Thanks!

Did you mean a Microsoft certified Technician ?, doesn't matter the
key is why did he remove Office 2000. Do a search for Outlook.Exe.
It should exist in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10. If it
isn't found and you have no install CD your choices are very limited.
However, most OEMs that distribute Office 2000 usually include the
CDs. Have you checked your original invoice/materials to see if it was
included in the shipment ?
It's unlikely that the installer (~400 Megs) would be on your hard
drive. So it's either call the Technician back to repair his error, buy a
copy of Outlook (Stand-alone) or restore your computer to it's original
factory state to get the complete Office suite capability back.
It may be that he just removed the icon for Outlook. If it's that easy
just search for Outlook.Exe Right Click it and choose Send To -Desktop
as a Shortcut. Your Outlook profile should still be intact and the data
your need still exists on the drive.

Thanks for writing. Wew had poblems installing so he had to due a manual installation. He did not tell me he would be removing office 2000. I called back an they said it was my problem because I did not have a disc. I have the outllok icon, all othe office programs work fine. Just when I open outlook it promts me for a disc which I dont have
Yes he was a microsoft tech.

OK, that means that either Outlook or a component it needs to run
isn't currently installed. This automatically triggers the call to the
Office
Setup.Exe module. This is one of those unfortunate cases where the
answer isn't easy or inexpensive. Without the disks you're not going
to be able to recover Outlook and it's components. However you
should make an attempt to backup your profile data so you have it
safely stored away. If you open Control Panel, Mail, Profiles it will
display where your Outlook data is saved (.Pst). You should burn
to CD-R any .Pst or .Pab files on your machine. I recently had a
similar situation where a Gateway PC had a corrupted Office install
and the disks were unavailable. After 20 minutes on the phone their
highly skilled, efficient and most importantly "Cheap" tech support
the best Gateway would offer was to sell him Office 2003 for $190.

If you only have a single Outlook account/profile the files will be at
the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\'YourLoginName'\Application Data\
Microsoft\Outlook

I would just backup everything in that folder, but ensure that you
find at least one .Pst file in the folder.

Unfortunately, if you "removed" Office 2000, and you don't have the CD, you will have to
purchase software. I've seen Office 2000 including CD and free UPS shipping for $95 at:

http://www.pricewatch.com

If don't need the whole Microsoft Office suite, I've seen the stand alone version of
Outlook 2000 at the above site for $68 including CD, and free shipping.

(read carefully at the site, some listings do not include the CD)

If I get office 2000 disc will I be able to recover my outlook email info. address and saved email etc.

I can't say for sure, it's really what and how much your Technician did
to the computer. If you use search and find .Pst or .Pab files and their
file size is representative of a lot data, the chances are pretty good.
