When I try to open Outlook, having just installed the Vista upgrade, I get an
error message which suggests that I install IE5 or later and need Outlook
Express to use Outlook. When I try to install Outlook Express I get a
message to say that I have the latest version installed with Vista but I
cannot load Outlook, regardless and cannot find Outlook Express listed
anywhere! Any idea how to resolve this, please?

You should abandon OE altogether. You have Windows Mail the replacement for
OE on Vista.
