Outlook,Vista and password problems

I am unable to get Outlook (Vista) to remember the passwords for my email
accounts. The "Remember password" box is checked but it continues to ask for
them, on all email accounts .

Even though I have repeatedly entered the passwords in the
appropriate field, the field will be empty after closing and then opening
Outlook, and thus asks for the password.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What Office version? Older versions of Office's Outlook--2000 and older--have
some quirks when running on Vista. You have discovered one of them. There's
no way around this password glitch that I know of except upgrading to 2003 or
2007.

If this is Outlook 2002, it requires a registry key in the Windows registry that no longer exists in Windows Vista.

Only Outlook 2003 and 2007 are supported on Vista. Outlook 2002 will run,
but it won't remember passwords, and that can't be fixed. Outlooks earlier
than that have additional problems.

Can be fixed now with a small tool so you can use OL2002 like on XP

Clearly that's not a fix, but a bandage.

What would you rater have a bandage or having to buy a new bit of software
form the people that refuse to fix the issue of their own design ?
Note they did start working on Vista when Outlook 2002 was in its prime !
and why not a servise pack fix ?

It's the same problem with all versions of Outlook, Windows Mail, and Outlook
Express on all operating systems. It been this way for years. Everyone is
just going in circles except Microsoft, who has done nothing that I can see
that really fixes the problem. It all of a sudden pops up, (usually after a
password change, or even from the very begining of a new install even,) and
then stays a problem from then on, regardless of all the suggested registery
fixes, that most who try, say did not fix their problem. I.E. Join the
crowd !!
