Outlook stops working - hangs upon opening - cannot open in safe m

Outlook 2002 bundled with Office XP Professional. When you try to open
Outlook, it just hangs at splash screen. Searched and removed spyware.
Scanned for Viruses. Uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled and still just
hangs and churns. Any suggestions on how to get this back in line?
