Outlook stops running...

Hi...

Every time when I start up my Outlook 2007 all looks normal until the
reminder pops up, then an error message appears telling me that Outlook has
stopped working and I can only close the application.

First there is this message that the PST file was not properly closed, then
Outlook seems to check it before continuing with the start up.
Then it starts to download mail as normal.
Then suddenly at the same time the reminder window pops up, the error
message appears.

This behavior started suddenly yesterday night.

I'm running MS Vista Ultimate on a self built monster.
A reinstall of MS Office 2007 did not help.

Is there a solution out there?
Is there something wrong with my PST-file?
Is there perhaps a PST checker out there somewhere?

I cannot get to my data!!

What is being logged to the Event Viewer?
Use scanpst.exe to scan your pst-files for errors.

Outlook has always provided the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to check and
repair PST files. Run it against your PST file with Outlook closed. Repeat
until you get no errors.

Thanks to you both!

Have a nice weekend!

Hi...

Yesterday I run SCANPST.EXE and it found errors which it repaired.
After several reboots and restarts of Outlook I dared to post a message in
this thread with the word SOLVED in the subject line.
Events today shows that the message a little premature.

When Outlook stops, it reports the error to MS, and after a little while I
get an message telling me that a solution is found.
I click on the buttons, but the upcoming window cannot connect to the
server. This happened yesterday, and it happens still.

In conformity to advices I fired up the eventviewer and found the error of
today.
Since my Outlook uses Norwegian, I think you guys have trouble reading
it....hehe..
But here it is:
Program med feil OUTLOOK.EXE, versjon 12.0.4518.1014, tidsangivelse

0x1064, starttid for program 0x01c784b8f5ddebbc.

Here is a futile attempt of translation:

What I have done so far is a reinstallation of MS Office and run SCANPST.EXE

The only thing I can recall I did, on both occasions, was to fire up Outlook
and Internet Explorer simultaneously.
Today SCANPST.EXE did not fix the problem.

What can be wrong here, and how can it be fixed?

Not sure if you are facing the same problem I had. Tortured me for a long 3
weeks. Nothing I found online worked. Office Diagnostics could not help too.
Hope it works for you as it did for me. What a relief.

Mine was a case of corrupted PST/OST file. Repair using
scanpst.exe/scanost.exe that comes with Outlook may not work, so try renaming
your offline file, eg. "outlook.ost" to "outlook_old.ost", and let Outlook
builds a new one again the next time it starts up.

Good luck! And let me know if it's solved at (e-mail address removed).
