Outlook shows 9 new emails, but there are none..

I believe our office in NY is using Outlook 2003. It shows there are 9 new
emails in the Inbox, but when you click on Inbox it shows none.

Any ideas how to clear this? She's rebooted twice before contacting me which
didn't help.

She logged onto our web email and logged in through there.. there is no new
emails.

She can send and receive email fine.

Is she seeing this on the windows logon or in outlook?

If in outlook, what view is she using? Did she try resetting the view?
http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/resetview.htm - use the second method.

I just spoke with her again.

In her Outlook she has Inbox and under that a folder Unread.

I sent her an email today and it went into the Inbox. The other 9 emails
were in a folder marked Unread. So, she went into this folder and has found
emails as far back as June that she didn't even know she had.

Just spoke with her once more. She clicks on an email in that Unread folder
to read it, but when she closes that mail it disappears.

if there's a filter to view only unread mail, that will happen, after the
email has been read...

Well it would do - the folder is called "UNREAD" mail and is a SEARCH
folder. Once the mail is read then obviously it won't show in the Unread
Mail Folder.

Yes, I think that will fix it. Thanks. Unfortunately, now her mouse won't
work, lol, so she can't get over to that option.

Oh well the good thing is, I get to leave the office today and head to NYC
to deliver her a mouse. Get some rest on the train, have some food you can
only get in the city.

That's the unread mail folder. It only shows unread mail and once you read
them, they are only accessible from the folder where they are stored. She
can change the grouping to By folder so she can see where they are.

You can try a popular Outlook recovery tool called Advanced Outlook
Repair to repair your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover
messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft
Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
Good luck!
