Outlook security - cached mode

I am looking for information on how Outlook 2007 secures cached mail in the
..ost file.
So if a laptop was lost how difficult would it be to access the mail in the
cached file ?
can anyone point me to articles on this ?

There are some ost-to-pst conversion tools on the market so if the hard disk
of the laptop is not protected it is possible to get access to the mail
data. This is of course not limited to ost-files, Outlook or any mail
applications but affects ALL data on the laptop.
