Outlook Rules

I have a user with an Outlook rule, that keeps turning off. He is running
Outlook 2003, to Exchange 2003.

The rule in question runs on all emails that come into his inbox, and then
re-directs them to another email account (external for his blackberry).

When the rule is active, it works fine, no errors, etc. Then for some
reason, it turns itself off. He has to go back in, turn it on, at which
point it works for a while, and shuts down again.

I can't find anything to explain why??

Any ideas??

No...not the blackberry redirector. I assume that is software to be
installed??

We are just testing a blackberry right now, so have not purchased any of
their software, servers, etc. Just a simple re-direct to the internet
account that Telus (the providor) has setup.

I've got 2 Blackberry users and rather than going through the expense of
setting up a BES we are using the desktop redirector which is software that
is installed. It is configured to forward a copy of all incoming email to the
Blackberry.
Have you asked the user if he has restarted his computer lately? I had one
Blackberry user lose connection while on the road, it turned out her network
password expired the day she left. She hadn't gotten prompts because she
always locks her laptop when she leaves the office, and rarely restarts it.
It happened all the time when she used a Palm too.

Ya..we didn't want to use BES either (I only have 1 user), but we are not
using the redirect software from blackberrry.

We are using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003. He put a rule in Outlook that
should redirect all email. The advantage to this, is he doesn't have to
leave his PC on, but the problem was, the rule would keep turning off.

I have a fix for it now though. Rather then using Outlook to create the
rule, I have done the following:

- In Active Directory - Created a contact, containing the external address
for the blackberry.
- Then on his account in AD, using the Exchange General Tab, Delivery
Options, turned on the forwarding, to the external contact, making sure that
while it forwards email, it also leaves a copy in his Exchange box.

It seems to be working well for him, so I think I have the problem fixed
now.

Thanks for the response.
