outlook rule not working

Outlook 2003 client. Exchange 2003 infrastructure:

I have a client-side rule to filter mail into a specific
folder. This rule has not worked since I moved to
Outlook 2003. If I run the rule manually, it works fine,
even if I run all of the other rules manually as well (so
I know an earlier rule is not breaking this one).

Problem happens from both my work laptop, and from my
home PC (also running Outlook 2003).

Can someone tell me if I can enable a rules log file or
something, that lets me see what rules run against each
incoming email? Has anyone else seen this before?

I have not seen this exact problem, but you don't indicate
whether you'vre removed the rule and recreated it from
scratch or not.

Something may be corrupt in the rule. You may also try
exporting (avail in OL2002, I'd hope in OL2003 too), then
delete, then import it back in.

I resolved a different problem with a rule by configuring
an OL2000 version for an account, logging in and letting
the system gripe about which copy to keep, let it get past
its error (the one causing my problem) and essentially all
the rules were recreated internally due to OL2000 being
used.

Once I logged in via OL2002, the error message was gone
and all rules worked as expected.

Just in case, since I'm not familiar with OL2003, I'd at
least export your rules first as a precaution.

Despite the apparent built-in MS message indicating you've
exceeded your rule size limit (total rule kb size) I've
found rules with large numbers of GAL users listed force a
rule to bloat-they use the GUID of each user. Make sure
none of your rules have several users listed which may
trigger this.

Good luck!
