Where are the pst-files stored? Locally on the client or on a networkshare.
Note that storing pst-files on a network share is not recommended or
supported by Microsoft.

It is stored in Profile. When we log off it will save in
server.

We have this problem since we have a lot of clients with
Windows XP and Office XP. Is it anything with NTFS,
because NT 4.0 has NTFS verstion 4 and windows XP hat
NTFS version 5.0.

Thanks .

No, NTFS is not the issue. The issue is that you probably store it in the
wrong folder. You must store it on a folder that is not being copied back
and forth between the server and a client. This could easily corrupt the
pst-file and logging off takes ages when people have a large pst-file. At
this point a lot of users do a hard shutdown while the pst-file is being
copied and the pst-file is lost (broken beyond repair).

We are storing our PST files in this
folder, "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook" so that it will be stored in
server by loging off and we can take backup.

As you told if we store it in "C:\Documents and Settings\%
username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook" (You must store it on a folder
that is not being copied back) it will not stored in
server by logig off and if the local PST file is damaged
we have no other chance to restore.

How do you recomend to store the the PST files so that we
can take backup.

thanking you

Use the pst backup add-in from Microsoft (free download). You can configure
it to prompt you every day to copy it to your backup location when you close
Outlook.

We have installed the "pst backup add-in" from Microsoft
as administrator and if we log on as client we can not
see the Register in Menu "File". As client we can not
install it.
