I use MS Outlook for my e-mail. When I go to send e-mail messages, I go to
"Send/Receive" and then the "Send Group". The problem? The program RECEIVES
mail too -- in fact it receives e-mail messages before it sends them so I
cannot abort that part of the function without aborting the whole function.

How would I repair the program so that I only send e-mail messages when I
choose <Send>?

In options somewhere, there is an option to "Send Immediately when
connected". You need to UNCHECK that option.
Sorry I can't be more precise as to the location, not on Windows at the
moment.
