outlook problem being locked up during sending out a message

I was sending a email with 2 attachments. When I pushed send the my outlook express locked up. I had to control+alt+del to end the session. Now, when I hit my outlook express icon, outlook starts to open but locks up. I am using windows 98 and outlook express version (6). Do I need to reinstall outlook express and if so, how? Please advise !
