Is there a way to set the pop3/smtp server for OutLook 2000 using a group
policy with out an exchange server.
I have look through the office9.adm and outlk9.adm snapins for a place to
enter the addresses for the servers with no luck.

John,

I believe that you would need to use the Office Customization Wizard to
create the .mst file that would contain this information. You can then use
Group Policy to deploy Office 2000 ( or Outlook 2000 ), just make sure that
the package that you create is Advance Assigned or Advance Published and
that you include the .mst file in the Modifications tab of the GPO.....

Please note, however, that I have always done this in a Domain environment
where Exchange 2000 is used.....not sure that this is applicable in a POP3
situation ( but I do not know as I do not use POP3 usually in an Active
Directory Domain environment ).

This - in a nutshell - should do it for you. I have done it many times.

HTH,

Cary
