Outlook not shutting down properly

Since installing Office 2007 on my new Vista PC, I've noticed that when
starting Outlook, the following message frequently appears above the system
tray:

Microsoft Office Outlook
A data file did not close properly the last time it was used and is being
checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in
progress.

This messsage appears perhaps 25% of the time when I start Outlook. After a
few minutes, the message goes away. Outlook is not crashing on me; I'm either
selecting File > Exit or pressing the close button--yet, the 'data file did
not close properly' message continues to appear.

What might be causing this to happen...and how can I prevent it? FYI, I use
Outlook in a non-Exchange environment, accessing multiple POP3 accounts and
my MSN/Hotmail account. I have yet to notice any loss of data, but I'm still
concerned.

On a related note, perhaps 10% of the time when I close Outlook, the
Reminders window stays on the screen...and OUTLOOK.EXE remains listed in Task
Manager--even many hours after I close Outlook. In the meantime, Outlook
continues to interact with my POP3 and MSN/Hotmail mail servers. Re-launching
and closing Outlook does not resolve the problem. My only recourse is to kill
the OUTLOOK.EXE process.

Any suggestions? I'd like to start using my Windows Mobile device with this
PC (via Vista's ActiveSync replacement Windows Mobile Device Center);
however, I'm reluctant to do that until the above problems are installed,
since (traditionally) ActiveSync tends to *cause* the kinds of problems I
listed above.

Thanks! This PC came with Google Desktop and Norton Internet Security 2007. I
will disable both of these utilities--or, at the least, their Outlook
interface--to see if the problem goes away. I won't know for sure until a few
days of use.

Is there a place within Outlook 2007 where all add-ins are listed?
