Sorry this is probably an elementary thing to know but I have tried for
hours to get this to work.

I have used outlook express and want to change to outlook 2003

Everytime I try to open outlook I get the following items in this order

The connection to the Microsoft exchange server is unavailable.

outlook must be online or connected to complete this action

Another box shows up with General tab

and a box to type in under the heading Microsoft exchange server:
_________________________________________________

Mailbox

______________________________________________

Then another box opened with unable to open your default e-mail folders the
file C:/Documents & Settings/ Stephen/ Local settings/application
date/Microsoft/outlook/outlook.ost is not an offline folder file.

Can someone help me open Outlook and use all the features it offers?

I assume that by using OE previously you were using a POP account.
remove the Exchange account from your profile via the Mail icon in Control
panel and create a new POP account.
