After I upgraded to vista my Outlook (not outlook express) no longer runs.
When I click the icon it says I need outlook express 4.01 or later to run
Outlook. So I tried to install outlook express which is bundled with an older
version on IE and Vista won't let me install it. So I am stuck now wondering
how I can get Outlook to work again. Is it possible just to install the
missing drivers or files somehow? If I can't open my outlook program I won't
be able to access all my emails and contacts. I believe I am using the
Outlook XP version or 2002. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron

You installed Outlook & it doesn't work?
Or you upgraded XP to Vista without reinstalling any programs?
Did you try actually installing from the CD? Office XP has a repair option
in the installer if memory serves properly.

If you don't get a resolution here you could also post to the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail and
microsoft.public.outlook.installation newsgroups.

You don't seem to sure what version of Outlook you are using. You can try
the following:

Use Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System
Copy wab32.dll and wab32res.dll to C:\Windows\System32

The above works when using Outlook 2000.
