Outlook is taking longer to boot

I am using Outlook 2000. When called it used to respond immediately, but
recently it has taken up to 2 minutes. I have deleted all but a few of the
emails in 'send' , 'inbox', 'spam' etc but it does not make any difference.
I have 3Gb RAM.
 
Do you have an antivirus/antispam application on your computer that
integrates with Outlook? If so, try disabling it and see if it opens any
quicker. Also, do you have a PDA or other handheld device that synchronizes
with Outlook? If so, do you experience any difference in loading speed when
the device is not docked?
 
Also, depending on your account type, the mail server load and/or
connection to the mail server may cause Outlook to start slowly.
