Outlook insists on opening in safe mode

Hi:

1. I installed Outlook 2007.
2. Didn't like it.
3. Uninstalled it (through control panel).
4. Reinstalled Outlook 2002.
5. I am getting the following message:
Outlook encountered a problem and needs to close. Outlook failed to start
last time, do you want to start in Safe Mode?
6. When I open in safe mode all my stuff is there (files and calendar
stuff), but none of my settings remain, for instance, if I change the color
of the calendar lines from the standard yellow to green, when I re-open
Outlook the calendar lines are back to yellow.
7. I totally un-installed Office XP Professional and re-installed it.
8. Still having the same problem with Outlook. All other Office apps are fine.
9. I know this has something to do with Outlook 2007.
10. Are there residuals left on this CPU, even though I uninstalled it
through control panel?
11. If I were to use regedit to search and remove residual Outlook 2007,
which files would I remove safely without disturbing Outlook 2002?
Thanks!

I did the same thing and when I try to access the "notes", I get the same
message...the rest of the files are accessable and do not cause a
crash...what's up?

Hi:

Someone said a tiny little word in the middle of a sentence which FIXED my
problem.

I wanted to tell everyone, as it might work for you.

I renamed the outcmd.dat file to outcmd.old and restarted outlook. WORKED!!!

Try it Geo, it might work.
