THis afternoon three of our networked officice computers started encountering
a problem with MS Outlook. The problem happend on two of our computers but
not two other computers.

The problem started with Outlook freezing (Not Responding). When we force
quit Outlook and tried to restart we get an error message that reads:

Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconveinince.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on
might be lost.

Debug Close

If I select "click here" Is get:

Microsoft Office Outlook
error signature
AppName: outlook.exe AppVer:11.0.8010.0 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 000111cd

I can post the log if that is helpful.

What is causing this problem?

What can I do to fix it?

Thank you,
John

I tried reinstalling (without deleteing) Outlook and the same problem occurs.
Is there a way to reinstall Outlook so that it overwrites the old buggy copy?

I am now also having a problem with a web page crashing in a similar
fashion. I don't know if the problems are connected. The webpage that I am
trying to use is a web logon for my webmail. It now crashes everytime I try
to use it. Earlier today it was working fine.

Any suggestions on how to clear this up?

Thank you,
John

After reading other posts I did try using the SCANPST.EXE utility on my .pst
file. It did do some repairs. According to the utility it did repair 337
items out of some 3200 or so. Sounded like that might be the problem but
Outlokk is still crashing.

BTW I have been able to open a copy of this .pst on another computer so I
think the problem is not with a corrupted .pst.

I just wasnted to post this in case this was suggested as a solution.

Thank you,
John

Correction... I just looked at the SCANPST dialog and it seems that there are
not 337 errors. The are 337 folders with 31266 files. No errors found.

Just to clarify.

Do you have Cloudmark Desktop installed by any chance? If so, go to the
Cloudmark support forum, to find the solution for this (uninstall, and
rename install folder).

Aloha Pat,
Thank you very much. I have been working on this for 8 hours and you
finally solved the problem. It seems that it hit a lot of Cloudmark Spamnet
users. All seem to find the fix on the Cloudmard Forum to fix the problem
instantly.

The fix is to remname the Spamnet.ddl to any other name. Spamnet.dll is in:
C:/Program Files/Cloudmark/Spamnet/Spamnet.dll

Thank you,
John

I had the same problem today except it was a home computer. I renamed the
file, but now none, NONE, of my previous info is there. I can't open or
import any file with previous info. No contacts, e-mails, folders, etc.

Please, any suggestions?

Mary
