Outlook Express Message Export not Importing completely int Mail

D

Dennis J

I exported my messages in OE V6.
Moved the Outlook Express folder containing all the .DBX files to my Vista
machine under My Documents.
I imported from mail. All folders imported, but only my "Deleted Items"
folder contained messages. All other folders where empty.
Looking at the .DBX files and none where marked "read only". They also
appear to be the correct file sizes. "Inbox" was 11.4 mb.
Tried Export/Import process again with the same results.

Please help.

Was Folders.dbx included?

I tried the free version. It "opened" my inbox.dbx and appeared to work.
However, there was nothing in the file when finished. This file is 11.4 mb!
I will attempt to export one more time.

Wait, wait, wait.

OE's export function only exports to an installed version of Outlook. You
have succeeded in confusing me.

Old PC has Outlook Express Version 6 running XP SP2.
New PC running Vista Home Premium has Windows Mail.
I exported from Outlook Express. I then copied the folder containing the
exported files to my new pc.
Using MS Mails Import function built my folder structure but the only folder
containing anything was the "deleted items" folder. Everything else was
empty.

I have no idea what you mean by "exported", but OE's File | Export only
exports messages to Outlook's PST file. See

Frank, thank you for your assistance. I finally had time to sit down and
figure this out. Your help pointed me in the right direction. Here is what
I did:
Opened Outlook Express on old PC.
Went to Tools > Options > Maintenance
Opened "Store Folder"
Copied the path
Opened Run command and pasted path from above
Hit Ctrl-A to copy all contents of my "store folder"
Created new folder in the public network folder on my new Vista PC
Opened MS Mail
File > Import > Messages > Microsoft Outlook Express 6
Browsed to the folder I created
Imported everything!

Thank you for your persistant help!
