Outlook Express Handling Error

My Mom uses Outlook Express and she is reporting a condition with her email
that sounds truly strange. She can send and receive email, but in order to
move from one email to the next she needs to delete the current one she is
reading. Any hints about what this is due to and how it can be fixed would be
appreciated.
