Outlook Express "compacting messages"

When i switch identies in Outlook Express i get an alert that says "to free
up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. this can take a few
minutes." When i chose the option it simply threw out a lot of my older
emails - definitely NOT cool.

I was talking to MS Support about another issue and they walked me through
how to change a setting somewhere deep in the system controls so that i
wouldn't get this alert again. I didn't write down the steps and now i'm
getting the prompt once more. Anyone know how to turn this alert off?
