Compact Files Message

Hi, I do not have Outlook Express installed, or Outlook. I uninstalled
IMMEDIATELY after installing Windows. I have NEVER used Outlook Express. I
have gone into Control Panel Add Remove Programs, Windows Components and
VERIFIED that Outlook Express is not checked and therefore NOT installed. Why
I am I getting message telling me I have to compact files? How do I get rid
of this annoying message, please?

You didn't read the dialog box properly, did you? Unchecking the OE option
in Windows XP does NOT uninstall OE - all it does is remove the menu entries
for accessing it.
When you next get the prompt up, let it compact whatever is there. See if
that makes it go away.

Thank you your recommendation appears to have resolved the difficulty I was
experiencing. I am sorry I didn't read the dialog box. However, I would ask
you to note that I was in the "Add Remove Programs" section of the control
panel, not the "remove menu items" section.

There IS no "remove menu items" in Control panel in XP.....to amend OE you
would have been in Add/Remove programs-Add/remove Windows Components. (Not
/quite/ sure of the wording - not at my XP machine at the moment....)
