Outlook Express Backup problems

[Oddity]

I'm having trouble importing backed up mail files into outlook express,
after re-installing XP.
I followed the instructions at:

I managed to import the address book, but when it comes to importing the
messages from the backed up folders I get the following message:
"no messages can be found in this folder or another application is running
that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try
closing applications that may have files open."

The files are all .DBX is there anything I can do to restore these to
outlook or did I do something wrong when following the instructions provided
on the site?

If you are importing them from a CD, once the folders are copied on to the hard drive you may have to unclick
the read only attribute from the folder and try again.
